Exhibition called "The Desiring Machines" inaugurates the ZONA art gallery in "The Arts Factory".
Opening ZONA for the present arts - space for exploration and activities in the field of visual culture and production of the symbolic value accompany with the next edition of the "Łódź Design" Festival. "The Desiring Machines" exhibition presents art works situated on the sphere between design and arts.
All the arts objects designed by artists are individual and unique. Meaning of these eccentric and peculiar mechanism cannot be treated in the conventional way. A riddle of their activity (twirling, moving, sound making and melody playing) can be compared with Gilles Deleuze's and Felix Guattari's vision of the "desiring machines" presented in their famous book "L'anti-Oedipe. Capitalisme et schizophrénie". All these uncommon gadgets designed by artists show human desire and the most surprising forms it can take.
