Józef Robakowski (b. 1939, Poznań | lives and works in Lodz)
Graduated from Mikołaj Kopernik University in Toruń (Department of Fine Arts) and Film, Television and Theatre State Academy in Lodz (Cinematography Department), where he worked as a lecturer from 1970 to 1981. He got back to working at Lodz filmschool in 1995, where he currently runs multimedia activity studios. In 2002 Robakowski was conferred a professorial title.
Artist – filmmaker, author of photographic series, videos, drawings, installations, objects, conceptual projects; initiator of artistic events, actions, exhibitions.
Co-founder of many artistic groups, among others: „Oko” (1960), Zero-61 (1961-69), „Krąg” (1965-67). Co-organizer of Film Form Workshop (1971-77) and Television Creative Group Station „L” (191-92).
Owner and curator of Exchange Gallery (1978-now).
